Trusting God Like Job

Early Foundations For years, I wrestled with a quiet, agonizing doubt: how could God truly forgive someone like me who keeps repeating the same mistakes? I grew up surrounded by faith and family, but the freedoms and pressure of college widened that doubt into a huge void. Sophomore year brought poor choices, failing grades, negative influences, and an eventual heart-wrenching confession: I felt like I didn't fully believe in God - well, maybe just a little. That struggle set the stage for a turning point in my spiritual journey. Crossing the Threshold By my junior year, I was desperate for change, so I opened up to my best friend. To my surprise, I realized I wasn't alone. Her encouragement to attend church, read the Bible, and pray charted a new course for me. After praying, I found myself in tears - I truly felt the presence of the Holy Spirit, and it marked a major shift in my journey. A Faith-Filled Community After joining the church, I saw people maintain their joy through hardships, and it ignited a hunger in me for a deeper connection with God. I saw how their lives progressed, and even during tough times, they remained positive. That prompted me to start reading my Bible independently. Tests and Trials: Job's Example of Faith Taking a brave step, I decided to trust in God and began reading the Book of Job. Inspired by his unwavering faith, I declared, "I want to trust in God like Job did." Almost immediately, my faith was tested: I lost my job, faced financial struggles, and lost my on-campus housing. Instead of viewing those challenges as punishment, I saw them as opportunities to draw closer to God. The Transformation: Recognizing Miracles With newfound clarity, I began to notice God's influence: I secured off-campus housing, improved my grades, and was invited to join a pre-professional program, leading to a competitive internship in my hometown. Each trial became evidence of God's work in my life. Reflections and Wisdom Now thriving in tech, I see my past struggles as the foundation of my strength. For those feeling lost, my encouragement is simple: begin with prayer. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you. While the path may seem daunting, I believe struggles are stepping stones to brighter days ahead.
